Greetings Old Dominion Bar Association:

I am Maritza T. Adonis, and I serve as the Fourth Circuit Governor of the American Bar Association--Law Student Division. The Division is concerned with legal education and works with the Section of Legal Education on issues of mutual concern.

The Fourth Circuit is comprised of the 17 ABA-accredited schools in the states of NC, SC, VA, and WV. This email is to invite you to participate in our upcoming spring conference themed, Finding Your Legal Niche.

The spring conference will be held the weekend of February 27-March 1, 2015 at William & Mary Law School in Williamsburg, VA. Our goal is to attract at least 100 law students from the 17 law schools in our Circuit. This will not be possible without your assistance.

This conference is designed to provide our law students with an opportunity to:

  1. jump-start their professional network by meeting other law students and members of the bar;
  2. gain an understanding for how to best strategize and refine their education and professional goals through practical approaches and tips from experienced attorneys;
  3. get an insider's view of the scope and future of the legal profession and discover the secrets to finding their first legal job, internship or clerkship; and
  4. take home valuable tips and strategies for adjusting and thriving in the legal profession.
This year, we have added several professional development sessions such as: bar prep, diversity training, on-site pro-bono activity, a mental health seminar, a Judge's breakfast and many more.

We are hoping that you could assist us by inviting your members to participate in our Attorney Mixer scheduled for Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 6:30pm-7:15pm; Career Panels and Speed Networking on Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 9:30am-12pm. Panel times will vary. Please feel free to share the working agenda here with your members for exact times and other panel opportunities that may be available. The conference is being held on the campus of William & Mary Law School- 613 South Henry Street, Williamsburg, VA 23185.

There are also opportunities to donate items for our workshop bags or sponsor part of our Friday mixer, Saturday breakfast, lunch or dinner reception or Sunday Judicial Breakfast. Please let me know if you would like to learn more about our sponsorship opportunities.

We are very excited about this conference and look forward to hosting it at William & Mary Law School. However, this event will not be possible without your assistance and support. Please let me know if you will be available to assist with our conference by  Friday, January 9, 2015. Thanks in advance for your support.  I am looking forward to hearing from you and hopefully meeting some of your members  in February.

Sincerely,

Maritza T. Adonis
