Please attend the 2015 ODBA Meeting and Conference.  This year's conference is full of activities for a number of difference reasons.  In addition to offering 4.5 hours of Continuing Legal Education Credits (MCLE approval pending), the ODBA is sponsoring two special sessions for undergraduate students interested in attending law school and law students.  The CLEs include topics such as "The Practices of the VA Attorney General"; "Domestic Violence - A Crime Against the Family";  Case Law Update and Ethics.  Simultaneously, undergraduate students will attend a session concerning admittance into law schools conducted by Dean(s) of Law School(s) and law students and undergraduate students will attend a session on "Preparing for and Passing the VA State Bar Exam" as presented by Anita O. Poston, member of the VA Board of Bar Examiners.

The ODBA is pleased to announce that Benjamin Crump, Attorney at Law, known for his representation of the families of Trevon Martin, Michael Brown and Tamir Rice will attend the Conference on January 31, 2015 at Norfolk State University.  As the National Bar Association’s (NBA) President-Elect, the ODBA is most honored that our attendees will hear from President-Elect Crump.  Crump’s appearance at the Conference follows his participation in Norfolk State University’s Speakers Series on January 30, 2015.

The deadline for attorney registration is January 16, 2015.  On-site registration may not be available.

SPECIAL SESSIONS FOR LAW STUDENTS AND UNDERGRADUTE STUDENTS INTERESTED IN LAW SCHOOL

Please join the ODBA for a special conference for undergraduate students interested in attending law school and law students.  Student attendees of the conference will meet accomplished minority judges and attorneys of the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Additionally, student attendees will have the rare opportunity to meet and discuss their intended legal career with Deans of Law Schools and a Member of the Virginia Board of Bar Examiners.  Many of those who want to pursue a career as a practicing attorney in Virginia are challenged by the Character and Fitness component required for sitting for the Virginia Bar.  Attending this conference will assist students in what is expected by the Virginia State Bar and the opportunity to meet practicing members of the Virginia State Bar that may serve as mentors and future references for the VA Bar application and employment.

ODBA members have been asked to sponsor students, so the registration cost for this conference is for the very low cost of $10 per student for a limited number of spots based on sponsorships.  Please submit your registration forms immediately.  The deadline for student registration is January 9, 2015.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept payments on-line at this time.  Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
